Professionalism

  • Respect for others on the worksite and work professionally with other trades.
  • Listen to the foreman/project manager.
  • Do what you are told by your supervisor.
  • Wear appropriate uniform and/clothing at the work site.
  • Behave appropriately whilst on the work site and use appropriate language.
  • Be on time. This means arriving before your shift starts (at least 15 minutes beforehand) and preparing yourself to start work on time.
  • Breaks are to be taken strictly for the length stipulated and are not to be extended without prior permission.
  • Advise your supervisor in advance if you cannot make it to work. It is not acceptable to simply not show up.

 Workmanship

  • Use the correct tools for the task being completed.
  • Attend to proper preparation of site, don’t cut corners.
  • Prepare and clean surface properly before painting.
  • Use drop sheets.
  • Take pride in your work e. don’t leave roller/brush/drip marks.
  • Fill, patch or sand areas where necessary. Don’t simply paint over the area.
  • Take care to do things properly the first time so that time is not wasted doing it again.
  • Finish what you start, don’t leave it half-finished and walk away.
  • Double check your work once it is finished and to ensure there are no defects.
  • Ask your supervisor if you do not know what to do. Don’t just guess or try to do something you can’t.
  • If you think there is a better way to do the task then the way instructed by your supervisor, politely raise it with your supervisor and make your suggestion. We will look into it and keep a record of it if your suggestion id taken on board. We reward employees you contribute to the quality of our company’s work.
  • Leave the work site tidy. Put rubbish into bins provided.
  • Wash your tools after use.
  • Put your tools away properly after you are finished using them, in the areas provided.
  • Do not leave tools around the work site until the end of the day if you are using them.
  • Advise your supervisor in advance if you require any tools or materials to complete the task. Don’t wait until you have run out of materials to alert your supervisor.

Safety

  • Always wear safety clothing/boots/hat on If you do not wear your safety clothing you are not covered by insurance.
  • Always wear your high visibility vest whilst on site.
  • Any injury, even if considered to be only minor, are to be reported to your site supervisor immediately.
  • Immediately report all faulty equipment (scaffolding, ladders etc) to your supervisor.
